Arizona artist Ann Morton is hard at work on a North Phoenix community art project called “We Are Home,” linking neighborhoods on 32nd street between Shea Boulevard and Bell Road.
At last count, residents contributed more than 900 tracings of their hands which Ann will use to create wing-like attachments that wrap the poles in the way migrating Monarch butterflies cluster on trees. Morton’s design grew from the community’s desire to draw more people to the sidewalks and bring attention to the corridor. Installation is expected in 2017.
